English 1751 Pattern Infantry Hanger To the Lancashire, Militia by Samuel Harvey.ED 2040 / 7249 - ED 2040This English 1751 Pattern Infantry Hanger was carried by Grenadiers and other Infantry Units and used during the American War of Independance. Following the 1762 Militia Act they were re-issued to units of Militia. This is an excellent original example of the 1751 Hanger. It is 31 1/2" overall with a curved, fullered, 24 3/4" blade. The blade is sharp and undamaged with nice patina throughout. Both sides of the blade are stamped with a running Fox with initials 'SH' for Samuel Harvey. It has a heavy brass bowed knuckle guard with cast ribbed brass handle & pommel. The bowl is crisply stamped ' 6/37' & 'M. LANCASHIRE'. (Lancashire Militia). All the brass retains it's original attractive deep patina. All elements of the sword, blade, bow, grip and pommel are complete and secure. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2040.
