~ A 1856 Pattern Enfield Cavalry Carbine Cal .577 ~
The lock-plate of the carbine is stamped with VR and Crown and with the manufacturer’s mark and year ‘Enfield 1858’.
The left side of the barrel is stamped with a series of Victorian proof marks.
The carbine comes with its ram rod and saddle rings.
As seen in the pictures the carbine has been heavily polished during the years.
The stock is also stamped with the Enfield arsenal circular stamp.
The barrel bands are also proof marked.
All parts seem to be original.
There is Islamic script to the trigger guard.
~ Dimensions ~
The barrel length is 21 inches (53.4 cm) and the overall length of the carbine is 36 inches (91.5 cm).
It weighs 2.9 Kg.
~ Condition ~
As said above both the metalwork and the wooden frame were extensively polished.
There is some amount of surface rust on the barrel, but its overall condition is good.
The smooth bore has also some amount of surface rust inside but no serious pitting can be spotted.
It half cocks, cocks and fires with ease.
The brass but plate has numerous small dents.
