~ An 1858 Pattern Enfield Percussion Short Musket ~
The musket comes with its sighted smooth bore barrel fitted with ramp and ladder rear sights.
The barrel is stamped on the right side with an inspector’s mark ‘B 11/64’ and on the opposite side with a series of proof marks and a pair of broad arrows.
The border engraved lock is stamped ‘1862’ over ‘TOWER’ and with a crowned VR at the tail.
The musket is fully stocked with regulation steel mounts including bayonet lug on forward barrel band, steel loading rod, the butt tang engraved ‘V nBT 7 46’.
The right side of the wooden stock is also stamped with a circular ‘Enfield, London, 1862’ and Queen’s crown ordinance stamp.
The musket is calibre .61.
It half cocks, cocks and fires with a strong spring.

The barrel length is 33 inches (83.82 cm) and the musket’s overall length is 49 inches (124.5 cm).
It weighs 3.7 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The musket is in good condition for its age.
There is superficial surface rust on the barrel and one of the two screws of the trigger guard is missing.
The woodwork has minor bruises but is free of splints, cracks or other damage.
