~ 1874 Enfield Mk. II Martini Two Band Action Artillery Carbine ~
The carbine has a steel barrel with hinged ladder sight, with numerous war department markings and sold out of service arrows marked on both the stock, action & barrel.
The right side plate of the action is marked with a crowned V.R. above “Enfield, 1874, crowned arrow II / 2 (& a barred out 2)”.
The walnut wooden stock has various stamps; to the left side, just before the action, is stamped “45 913”. To the right is stamped with a WD Enfield with crown in roundel over II/2, “sold out of service” arrows. The brass boss is stamped “3, 1894, IV.FF.A, 626”.
The rifle comes with its steel ramrod and being an artillery carbine it has a bayonet lug.
~ Dimension ~
The barrel length is 20.5 inches (52.5 cm) and the overall length of the rifle is 37 inches (94 cm).
It weighs 3.27 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The carbine is reasonable used condition.
It cocks and releases with ease.
The metal work (including barrel) has developed some minimal pitting due to its age but aside from the inside of the bore no rusting or major damage.
The woodwork is fairly worn from active service use including numerous bruises & scratches etc. but is still solid.
