An 18-Bore Flintlock Duelling Pistol By Bass of London, Circa 1770. With browned ocagonal sighted barrel stamped 'LONDON' on the top flat, profusely engraved tang decorated with sun-bursts and fitted with a rear-sight, steppped border engraved lock decorated with a sun-burst at the tail and fitted with a sliding safety catch, full-stocked in walnut the grip cut with chequering mounted with a silver shield shaped escutcheon, steel mounts comprising trigger guard, decorated on the bow with a stand of arms and at the finial with a pineapple, and two ramrod pipes, with horn tipped ramrod.

Made flintlock pocket, coach and duelling pistols in London. Firm name became Twigg & Bass in 1780.
