It dates from the era of the American Revolutionary war. Circa 1775-1783. Possibly British manufactured during the 1740-1770's. Brass knuckle-bow, solid brass crossguard and turned pommel. The brass guard is unusually decorated around the knuckle guard edges, the decoration possibly indicating that it could have been carried by an officer. The single edged blade length approx 25 inches. Very nice turned ivory grip. Blade with some minor wear and rusting, otherwise in good overall condition. The ivory grip is a good colour and it has a nice period patina to the brass. A very good authentic piece dating from the time of the U.S. Revolutionary war era. Overall length approx 32 inches high. Ref 8168. This is an antique weapon and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom.
