~ A Remington 1858 New Model Navy Revolver .36" Calibre 6 shot revolver From The American Civil War Era ~
Approximately 28.000 of these revolvers with the 7 3/8 inch barrel were produced by Remington between 1863 and 1875.
The barrel is stamped with the serial number "31191" under the loading lever.
The inspector's mark 'B' can be seen on the brass trigger guard.
The barrel stamped "E Remington & Cons, Ilion New York USA New Model" on the top barrel flat.
~ Dimensions ~
The barrels length is 7 3/8 inches (18.6 cm) and the overall length of the revolver is 13.2 inches (33.5 cm). It weighs 1.13 kg.
~ Condition ~
It has a good indexing action on all 6 chambers. Two of the nipples are damaged (one of them is not usable and needs replacing).
The grips are original, unfortunately the one on the left is damaged, as seen in the images, and the one on the right is chipped on the lower part. This is reflected in the price. The ram rod is a bit loose in its action.
The metal has darkened with age and developed some pitting.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £22 or the revolver can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
