~ American Model 1860 Light Cavalry Sabre 1861 Dated ~
This is a very early piece of this particular pattern.
The Model 1860 Light Cavalry Sabre (also known as the M1862 as this was when the first 800 were issued) was used by US cavalry from the American Civil War until the end of the Indian wars; some were still in use during the Spanish–American War.
The ricasso is stamped with the manufacturing date ‘1861’ and the brass basket is stamped ‘12’.
The sword comes with its chromed steel scabbard and its two suspension rings.
The grip of the sword is made of carved wood.

The blade length is 35 ½ inches (90 cm) and the overall length of the sword is 41 inches (104 cm).
The sword in its scabbard length is 42 inches (106.5 cm).
It weighs 1.4 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The sword is in good overall condition.
The blade darkened but remains undamaged.
The scabbard has lost some of its chrome and developed spots of rust.
