    ### ON HOLD FOR CUSTOMER # AWESOME HUGE VINTAGE GURKHA KUKRI WITH A STUNNING ALLOY & BRASS HILT & DECORATED SHEATH FROM THE ARSENAL OF ONE OF THE INDIAN MAHARAJA PRINCELY STATES.

Overall good / very good condition
Sheath and kukri displayed next to each other would make a stunning display item.
The Indian Maharaja Princely States Armies provided forces to the crown in both World War, and a lot of their weaponry including Kukris for their Gurkha "mercernaries" had alloy/ alloy / brass hilts. You will probably remember the alloy knuckle knives that appeared on the market many moons ago from an Indian Princely state arsenal. Before India partition just after WW2 almost a quarter of the population of India lived under the rule of one of the princely states such as Jind, Mysore and Kapur.
More like a heavy short sword
Has a sharp thick heavy blade about 49cm long measured in a straight line, and a blade thickness in parts of over half a centimetre thick and a long section of 7cm wide, and 13.5 hilt length. The alloy hilt is nicely decorated brass cap and bolster.

FROM A SMALL COLLECTION OF SUPERB QUALITY AND MOSTLY QUITE RARE KUKRIS WE HAVE JUST PURCHASED AND WE WILL BE LISTING IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS.

These very occasionally turn up on the collectors market and have had various opinions as to their usage.

Split in the leather on the back of ther sheath, and a leather repair to top edge of sheath.Odd parts of raised decoration missing, please refer to photos. However retains its five large red tiger eye decoration.Odd tiny chip to grip under pommel otherwise both kukri and sheath in overall good condition.

Sheath and kukri displayed next to each other would make a stunning display item.
