Manufactured from around 1902 until at least 1917, The Model 1898 Bayonet was the Imperial German response to the French 1886 lebel narrow bladed bayonet. This is an excellent German Seitengewehr M 1898 bayonet. It has a superb 20 1/2" pipeback blade with swell point tip. It has a full central fuller. The ricasso is stamped by the manufacturer 'CG Haenel Suhl'. The back of the blade has Imperial inspection marks and is dated '14' (1914). It has undamaged grooved slab wood grips secured with two rivet screws. It has a swept cross guard. It is complete with it's rare steel scabbard. The scabbard has traces of original black paint and just a few minor dents consistent with service use. It has a belt hook on the reverse. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 10588
