Description

NATO Stores Numbered, L1A3 Bayonet With Rare Trials Plastic Scabbard & Frog. ED 2290.

The L1A3 Bayonet was introduced into Service in the 1950's for the 7.62mm L1A1 Self Loading Rifle (SLR). This is a very good example. It has an 8" fullered blade with Bowie type tip and is marked at the ricasso '188'. Both grips are nicely marked 'L1A3' and NATO Stores number '9600257' together with letter 'B'. It is complete with a rare original Trials pattern plastic scabbard. These scabbards are likely to be pre the introduction of the L3A1 bayonet as this pattern of scabbard is illustrated with an L1A4 bayonet on page 264 of Skennerton's book British & Commonwealth Bayonets. Also included is an original webbing frog with single belt loop. The rear of the frog is ink stamped with letters and numbers. Price for this nice bayonet with rare trials scabbard and frog includes UK delivery. ED 2290
