1888 Pattern, Mark II Wilkinson, Lee Metford Bayonet To Eton College OTC, Scabbard and C1909 War Dept Altered MK II General Service Buff Leather Frog. Sn 8012. The Enfield, Lee Metford, 1888 Mark II Bayonet was manufactured for the British .303 calibre Enfield, Lee Metford Rifle which were issued to British and allied forces during the Boer War and WW1. The Bayonet blade which is in good clean condition is 12" in length, double edged and unfullered with a medial ridge running from the ricasso to the blade tip. The ricasso of the blade is crisply stamped by the manufacturer 'Wilkinson London' and with war Dept arrow. The Pommel is stamped ' EN.R ' which is most likely the Eton College Officer Training College Regiment (see page 99 of Broad Arrow By Skennerton). This nice condition Bayonet comes complete with excellent leather, steel mounted scabbard and buff leather General Service Mk II Frog with 4 rivets at the belt loop and retaining strap with buckle, correctly altered according to War Dept instructions to also accomodate P1907 Bayonets with hook quillon, under order 'LoC 14530 11th Feb 1909 & LoC 15009 22nd March 1910' (see page 24 and 25 of Bayonet Belt frogs Part 1 By Carter). The frog is also in excellent condition and has all stitching intact. The rear of the frog has unreadable letters and numbers contemporarily deleted with original black ink.
