An American M1905 Springfield rifle bayonet, leather scabbard and frog. The bayonet has a 16" single edged blade with a sharpened back edge point. It has a central fuller. The ricasso has "S.A. 1917" over the 'Flaming Grenade. On the reverse of the ricasso is "US 673977". It has a straight cross guard in blued steel which has a scabbard locking catch operated by a sprung thumb catch, this operates smoothly as it should. It has a blued steel pommel with a sprung catch inside the bezel which operates when the bayonet release catch is pressed. It has wood slab grips which are secured with one screw rivet. The scabbard is dark brown leather over a wooden scabbard. It has a steel throat and metal catches to secure the bayonet. The leather scabbard also incorporates a leather frog which has six brass rivets on the reverse and a brass wire belt hook. The scabbard is also stamped "1909" above "E.J.". The scabbard retains a very nice patina. The price includes UK delivery.
