A WW1 French 1916 8mm 5 shot Berthier Rifle and original leather sling. This is an excellent example of a rare French WW1 Mannlicher-Berthier rifle in 8mm 5 shot. In 1914, the Manufactures d?armes de St. Étienne was ordered to begin working on a modified Mle 1907 des Tirailleurs Sénégalais which could be rushed into production and supplement the depleting stocks of Lebel rifles. The result was the 1907-15 Mannlicher-Berthier rifle, officially adopted in 1915. By mid 1915 the first rifles were reaching the troops. Berthier rifles were manufactured by Manufactures d?armes de St. Étienne, Manufactures d?armes de Chatellerault. The rifle has superb woodwork, the butt is stamped "14001". It is clearly stamped (illustrated) and complete with an original leather sling. It cocks and dry fires and price includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery.
