A very large calibre Privately manufactured Flintlock Officer's Pistol dating from the time of the Napoleonic Wars. Circa 1800 -1815. The lockplate engraved "S. BRUNN". (Samuel Brunn worked in London circa 1795-1819. Brass trigger-guard, sideplate and ramrod pipe. Sliding safety fitted to the rear of lock. Action in excellent working order. Complete with its original steel ramrod. Calibre approx .75 cal. This type of heavy calibre officers style flintlock pistol were made by several different gun-makers in the British gun trade during the later part of the 18th century and during the beginning of the 19th century, often made for export to the colonies, they were privately purchased by serving military officers. Shield shaped silver escutcheon fitted to the butt. The quality of this example is extremely good. Samuel Brunn was a very well known gun-maker. Overall length 14.5 inches. Very good extremely crisp condition. Ref 8223.
