A Brazilian 1908 Pattern bayonet and brass mounted leather scabbard. This is the bayonet for the new 7mm Rifle adopted by Brazil in 1908. It has a swept forward quillon and fullered blade. It has wood slab grips secured with two steel rivets. The pommel is steel and has a push button release. It has a clearing hole in the grips adjacent to the crossguard. There are no markings on the bayonet. The bayonet has a 113/4" polished steel single edge blade. The brass mounted leather scabbard has a number on the frog stud "E 745" (see 'An Illustrated History Of Bayonets' book by Martin J Brayley, Page 38) This is an uncommon and attractive bayonet.
