1905-1908 Britannia Cox’s Patent .177 Calibre, Anglo Sure Shot MK 1, Break Action, Air Rifle Retailed By 'R. Ramsbottom Manchester'. Sn 11961 - 11961The first patent for the Britannia style Break Action Air Rifle was dated 1902 and they were produced between 1905 -1908 (see pages 12 & 13 of a Collector's Guide To Air Rifles By Hiller). The break action is achieved by a thumb operated, gate type, barrel latch which when pulled backwards releases the barrel and allows the weapon to be cocked and loaded. This is a nice example with original wood & metalwork throughout all of which has even patina. It has a 20 ½” clean stepped rifled barrel and measures 35 ½” overall. The top of the frame is correctly stamped 'Cox's Patent' together with Faint 'Made only for R. Ramsbottom, Manchester’ & 'Anglo Sure Shot MK 1'. The left side is stamped with the Britannia name and 'Trade mark'. The steel stock frame and barrel section are stamped with matching numbers '1151'. It has a blade fore sight and adjustable rear sight. The break action loading and firing action work as they should with a good spring action. Price includes UK delivery. Sn 11961.
