These famous flintlock muskets were mostly manufactured during the Napoleonic wars circa 1795 - 1815. This example was manufactured at a slightly later date by the gunmaker MEREDITH of Birmingham circa 1820-1830 and is engraved with the makers name on the lockplate. The barrel stamped with 2 good clear London proof marks. Very good condition overall. Fitted with 3 brass ramrod pipes, two sling swivels and complete with its correct steel ramrod. The stock inset with an old plaque inscribed "FIREARMS FOR DEFENCE OF MESSRS. BODEN`S FACTORY, DERBY. CHARTIST RIOTS 1838". Some very minor wear, the sling swivels replaced but in general a nice honest example. Barrel length 37 inches. A very unusual collectors item in good condition, with a known history.
