These caps were originally worn either with white tops or dark tops depending on the time of year (today only white top examples are used). The cap has a white top. The cap top is made of white canvas that is then whitened regularly to keep it smart, this was replaced by vinyl in the 1960s which was a lot easier to maintain. It has a black band with "H.M.S." embroidered in gold and the cap band is tied off in the traditional knot. Around the sides of the cap are two pairs of white grommets for ventilation. The inside of the cap has a cloth sweatband and a fabric lining to the crown. The centre of the cap has a manufacturer’s label "J Compton Sons & Webb Ltd London 6 5/8". There is a name inside in white paint "A Allen". It has a drawer string inside. The cap is in very good, straight original condition. The price includes UK delivery Sn 12719
