1905-1908 Britannia .177 Calibre, Sure Shot, Break Action, Air Rifle Cox's Patent By C.G. Bonehill Birmingham. AI 593

The first patent for the Britannia style Break Action Air Rifle was dated 1902 and they were produced between 1905 -1908. ( See page 12 & 13 of a Collector's Guide To Air Rifles By Hiller). The break action is achieved by a thumb operated, gate type, barrel latch which when pulled backwards releases the barrel and allows the weapon to be cocked and loaded. This is a nice example with original wood & metalwork throughout. The wood stock is undamaged with just the bumps and bruises to be expected. It has a 20 1/2" clean stepped rifled barrel and measures 36" overall. It has a blade foresight & adjustable dial rear sight stamped 'Patent'. The top of the frame is correctly stamped 'Cox's Patent' together with 'C.G. Bonehill (Birmingham), Sole Manufacturer'. The left side is stamped with the Britannia name and 'Trade mark'. The steel stock frame and barrel section are stamped with matching numbers '2027' together with 'Rd 394207' on the frame. The break action loading and firing action work as they should with a good spring action. Price includes UK delivery. AI 593
