~ c1650 Scottish Full Basket Hilt Sword By M.Vincent ~
This is a very fine Scottish full basket hilt sword, possibly a Grenadiers, with an early pommel arrangement. It has its original wire bound black rayskin grip and liner.
The sword has a long single fuller straight blade which swells out along the back edge towards the tip forming a slight upwards curve. The blade is stamped on both sides with the name "M.Vincent" and has a much blued finish.
The sword came from Peter Finer and its history is available.
~ Dimensions ~
The sword measures 34 inches (87cm) in total with the blade itself measuring 28 inches (71cm).
This sword weighs 1.31kg.
~ Condition ~
This sword is in very good condition for a piece of its type. The blade has some minor surface pitting as expected with age, but the surface is overall good. There are a few nicks to the edge. The grip is in very good condition with minimal wear. The basket hilt is a little loose.
~ Postage ~
Postage costs £18 or the sword can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
