~ Argentinian brass barreled naval boarding percussion cap blunderbuss pistol from circa 1840 made in Buenos Aires ~
The body is stamped "IACOTE & COSSE A BUENOS AYRES".
It has an octagonal breech and circular barrel.
All the steel fittings are richly foliate engraved, as are the pommel, trigger guard and ramrod sleeve.
The stock is in a deep walnut.
The ramrod is original to the piece.
It half cocks, cocks and releases with a strong spring.
~ Dimensions ~
The barrel has a length of 7 inches (17.8 cm), of with an overall length of 13.7 inches (35 cm). The muzzle flares out to 2 inches (5cm).
~ Condition ~
The pistol is in good condition for its age, the metalwork shows no sign of rusting but has some dings to the barrel, there is a small chip on the muzzle. The stock has minor wear including a crack around the grip.
