~ C1900 German Imperial Artillery Officer Sword and Scabbard ~
This is a German parade sword.
The blade is engraved on one side ‘2 reit. Batterie Art. Reg.22’ beneath a horse head. The opposite side is engraved with crossed swords above a German helmet, a representation of a field artillery unit and crossed sword and rifle.
The sword is fitted with a black coloured wooden wired handle. The hilt is of gilded steel with a lion head shaped pommel with ruby eyes.
The brown leather and silver bullion tassel is present as well. The scabbard is made of still and black painted.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade length is 34.5 inches (87.5 cm) and the overall length of the sword is 38.8 inches (101 cm). The sword in its scabbard length is 40.5 inches (103 cm).
It weighs 1.14 kg.
~ Condition ~
The sword was reconditioned at one point in time for preservation purposes. The hilt and the scabbard were re-sprayed.
The blade though is in its original condition and except one dark spot it is flawless.
