DB 12 bore pinfire by John Calvert of Leeds, circa 1865, with 29 3/4in. twist iron barrels, the top-rib signed 'LEEDS', engraved pin apertures, border and scroll engraved top-tang and rounded Jones under-lever action, border and scroll engraved back-action locks signed 'CALVERT', chequered walnut butt-stock and splinter fore-end. Lovely wood and retaining much original finish . Action tight and barrels , while not mint , very good , ringing beautifully.Not one of the usual worn out old things , and apparantly little used .Great value at £795. Below it ( SOLD ) a little rook rifle in .360 by " ENOS JAMES & Co BIRMINGHAM, MODEL 'MARTINI PATENT ", 26 1/2in. barrel, flat matted rib, folding leaf sights, border engraved action , walnut butt-stock . Side safety , good bore and working action .Some dings and light repairs to wood etc, but neat thing overall . Great value at £495 . Thanks for looking !
