Carl Gustafs Stads Gevarsfaktori, Swedish Mauser 1917 dated rifle. Model m/96 (model of 1896). Lovely example with many matching numbers. Adopted in 1896, this is the 6.5mm caliber Mauser infantry rifle used by the Swedish military through WW1 and in variants up till 1944. This rifle is in lovely authentic condition with original cleaning rod and brass butt disc, on which was recorded the barrel wear. Very similar in design to the Gew98 as used by the German's in WWI. These rifles were manufactured under license by Sweden. Many were used during Germany's WWI effort. Still in very good condition considering it is 99 years old!!!! Dated 1917 on the breech below the Swedish crown and Carl Gustafs factory mark, this rifle has very good original blacking, and the authentic hardwood stock is in great shape for it's age. Of particular importance is that most of serial numbers match the breech serial, magazine floorplate, bands and butt plate. Deactivated with a working action, it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
