Circa 1850. Barratt & Son, gun makers, had a workshop in the High Street, Burton On Trent circa 1849 - 1870. Complete in a very good mahogany wooden case with accessories including a fluted copper powder flask, pewter oil bottle, bullet mold, turn screw and nipple key. The 3.5 inch blued octagonal turn-off barrels engraved "BARRATT BURTON" and decorated with a band of engraving at the muzzles. Engraved scrolling decoration to the locks, sideplates and trigger guards. Chequered wooden grips, each with an oblong escutcheon. British proof marks to the underside of the breech and barrels. Overall length of pistols 9 inches. Wooden case measures 7 X 10 inches. Good working action and excellent condition retaining much original blued finish.
