~ Circa 1780 Flintlock Belt Pistol By Briscoe ~
The brass barrel of the pistol is half octagonal and half cylindrical. On the left side of the octagonal section can be seen two British proof marks.
The steel lock plate is named ‘Briscoe’, I think this gunsmith was based in London.
The walnut bag grip is decorated with a blank brass shield.
The brass trigger guard is decorated a sun flower and a splendid pineapple final.
On the left side the pistol is fitted with a steel belt hook.
It is fitted with its original ramrod.
The pistol half cocks, cocks and releases with a strong spring.
~ Dimensions ~
The barrel length is 8.1 inches (20.5 cm) and its overall length is 14 inches (35.5 cm).
It weighs 1.17 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The pistol is in very good condition with minor wear. The screws are all original, the engravings still sharp.
There are couple of scratches on the grip and tiny spots of white paint.
