~ Circa 1810 Pair Of Belgian Cavalry Flintlock Pistols ~
Both smooth bore steel barrels bear on the top, the Belgian proof mark ‘ELG/*’.
Additional to this, on the left and right sides of both barrels, a crown over ‘LF’ is stamped.
One of the lock plates is also stamped with crown above ‘F’.
These kinds of proof marks are specific to the Belgium firearms manufactured between 1810 and 1853.
All the metal fittings on the pistols, except the barrels, the lockplate, hammer and frizzen are made of brass.
The walnut shaped grip finial is made of brass and it is fitted with a suspension ring.
Both flintlocks half cock, cock and release with a strong spring.
The pistols are .73 cal. (12 gauge).
~ Dimensions ~
The barrels length is 8.1 inches (20.5 cm) and the overall length of the pistols is 14.4 inches (36.5 cm).
The set weighs 2.45 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The barrels have minimal internal and external surface rust but their overall condition remains very good and they are easy to clean.
The woodwork has signs of wear, scratches and minor chips. Please refer to the pictures.
