~ Circa 1830 Antique Walking Stick Pistol by Smith Of London ~
A circa 1830 Smith of London turn off percussion pocket pistol partially concealed within a dark wooden walking stick. The stick is textured with bark and natural knots down its length. It is finished with a copper ferrel.
The percussion pistol has a turn off barrel and fold away trigger which deploys on full cock. It is marked to the top "Smith London" with decorative engravings over the metalwork. The grip is of a dark walnut with a chequered finish. The barrel of the gun fits neatly into the end of the stick with the grip forming the handle of the cane.
~ Dimensions ~
The piece measures 36.5 inches (93cm) in total.
The pistol measures 7.5 inches (19cm) with the barrel measuring 3 inches (7.5cm).
The lot weighs 525g.
~ Condition ~
The piece is in good condition for its age and type. The copper end piece to the stick is a little loose but intact. There is some light wear to the bark around the top end.
The pistol is in a decent state and the barrel turns off with ease. The metal has darkened but the engravings and decoration are still clear.
