Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK, visit our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref no 7883. A rare Colt model 1861 navy revolver with round barrel. The barrel marked "Address Col Saml Colt, New York U.S. America". Made during the early years of the US Civil War. Condition is good with some signs of normal use. Action works fine. Side of frame stamped "Colt's Patent". The grips are very well chquered. These pistols are much rarer than the 1851 Colt Navy revolver. The serial numbers of these 1861 model revolvers at the end of the US Civil War were around #28,000. This pistol is numbered in the 5600 range, suggesting that it was manufactured during the first two years of production in 1861-2. It also carries a U.S. government inspector's mark of a single letter "L" on the back of the brass trigger guard strap. This suggests that it was one of only a few hundred of the 1861 model that were ordered by the US Government. Serial number on the cylinder is worn, the other numbers are all matching. Overall length approx 13.5 inches. This is a rare revolver. Our ref 7883.
This is an antique weapon and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom.
