Dutch M1895 Mannlicher Sword Bayonet, Scabbard & Frog. Bayo 13 - Bayo 13An excellent Dutch M1895 Mannlicher sword bayonet with leather scabbard and integral frog. This bayonet was designed for use on the Mannlicher carbine. This bayonet features a push button release on the same face of the pommel as the locking slot. The Mannlicher carbine and bayonet was originally designed for the Netherlands Artillery but was later issued to some other special units within the Dutch Army. (See page 219 of White & Watts bayonet Book). The bayonet was made at the Hembrug Arsenal and is crisply stamped on the ricasso "Hembrug". On the reverse it is stamped with proof marks and on the cross guard edge with "7220K". The bayonet has an unusual 'T' section steel blade which measures 18 3/4" long. It has slab grips which are secured with large rivets. The pommel has a short locking slot with the push button release on the same edge as the slot. The push button works smoothly as it should. The scabbard is brown leather and has just a small section of stitching at the tip missing, a field repair has been carried at some point using twisted wire. The scabbard has a frog which is riveted to it. It is made of leather and the reverse of the frog is stamped with "1717" and "7118" as can be seen in the photographs. The frog has a cross strap securing over a brass button but the belt loop section is missing. This is an excellent condition bayonet with it's original leather scabbard. The price includes UK delivery.
