British 1st Pattern, 1910 Dated Hook Quillon '07' Sword Bayonet By Enfield Regiment marked To ‘E.L’ The East Lancashire Regiment, No.2 MK 1 Scabbard & Webbing Frog. BAYO 70 - BAYO 70

1st Type 1907 pattern bayonets with hook quillon were introduced in 1908, after 1913, ‘07’ Pattern bayonets were produced without hook quillon (see page 186 of British & Commonwealth Bayonets by Skennerton). This is an original 1st type hook quillon 1907 pattern sword bayonet by Enfield, complete with original scabbard. The sword bayonet has a 17" steel single edged blade which is stamped at the ricasso on one side with the King’s Crown ER (Edward Rex), ’9 ’10 date (Sept 1910) and ‘1907’ (Pattern) together with ‘EFD’ (Enfield manufacturer). The reverse is stamped with inspection marks (Enfield made approx. 230,000 hook quillon P1907 Bayonets but many had the quillon removed in 1913). The bayonet is fitted with 1st pattern hook quillon cross guard which incorporates a muzzle ring. The grips are secured with two screw bolts. The pommel is stamped ‘E.L’ to The East Lancashire Regiment (From 1881 to 1958, an Infantry Regiment of the British Army. Today its lineage is continued by the Duke of Lancaster's Regiment. The size of the East Lancashire Regiment was increased during WW1 reaching a total of 17 Battalions and the Regiment took part in most of the Major battles of the Great War. Four members of the Regiment were awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry during WW1). It is also stamped with weapon number ‘317’. The bayonet is complete with its original No.2 MK 1 steel mounted black leather scabbard. The scabbard has the correct rivets showing and rear seam. All the stitching and leather of the scabbard are intact. The scabbard is fitted with an original webbing frog with single belt loop. The rear of the frog has ink stamped numbers.
