1898 Dated, Long Lee Enfield MK 1* Rifle To The Essex Yeomanry Converted To Charger Loading . D 1194 - D 1194In 1899 clearing rods were abolished in the British Service and the MK 1 * Lee Enfield Rifle without clearing rod hole in the fore end nose cap was approved on 7th August 1899. This .303 calibre Long Lee MK 1* is crisply stamped on the right side of the strap 'Enfield Crown VR' and '1898' date. In 1908 this rifle was converted to charger loading and is correctly stamped on the left side of the strap ' Enfield 1908 C.L.L.E I'. The wood work is all original and has just the scuffs and bruises to be expected with service wear. The stock is crisply stamped 'E.Y' to the Essex Yeomanry with a 'D.P' marking indicating that after service it was retained for 'Drill Purposes'. The metal work retains it's original finish and the weapon has magazine cut off and long range volley sights. It cocks and dry fires perfectly.
