A good English Queen Anne style cannon barrelled flintlock pocket pistol made by MEWIS & Co of London Circa 1770. The screw-off barrel approx 4 inches in length, The frame engraved with the maker's name "Mewis & Co". The walnut butt terminating with a plain hallmarked silver butt-cap with the makers mark CF (for Charles Freeth, silver maker). An excellent example of the type of weapon carried for personal protection during the mid 18th century. In good well used condition. Overall length approx 9 inches.
