A good English Queen Anne style cannon barrelled flintlock pocket pistol made by BENNETT of London Circa 1781-1802. The screw-off barrel approx 2.5 inches in length, The frame engraved to one side with the maker's name and address "BENNETT ROYAL EXCHANGE". The other sideplate engraved "LONDON". The walnut butt fitted with a silver escutcheon to the rear. An excellent example of the type of weapon carried for personal protection during the mid 18th century. In good well used condition. Overall length approx 8 inches. This maker was also at the right period in history to have seen his weapons possibly used during the closing years of the American Revolutionary War 1775-1783.
