~ A French Military Percussion Pistol c1860 ~
The pistol is a flintlock conversion.
The barrel is is punch marked in Arabic language, meaning that it was reused in one of the French colonies.
Its grip was reinforced with several brass and steel bands over a prior crack.
The repairs are crude as usually seen with the weapons.
The top of the walnut grip has a built in compartment with a brass trapdoor to store the percussion caps.
The pistol half cocks, cocks and releases with a strong spring though a little 'sticky'.
The lock plate has a series of holes which were used initially to keep the pan in place.
The ramrod is original.
~ Dimension ~
The overall length 40cm is with a 23cm barrel.
The bore diameter is 18mm.
It weighs 1.12 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The pistol is in average condition due to its age and use.
The barrel shows some heavy usage inside, rust and pitting.
The exterior look fine though.
The woodwork is fine except for the parts which were reinforced.
