German 98/05 first pattern sawback butcher bayonet made C G Haenel dated W15.with correct steel mounted leather scabbard, both bayonet and scabbard are regimentally marked with
wartime markings (164R.11.208) more than likely a Somme bring back as most of the saws were removed after 1917.
Blade and sawback in wonderful condition, handle with a few areas of light pitting (difficult to see the 208 on crossguard),
inspection marks all over, no flashguard but with low ears, transitional model.
Scabbard all stitching intact with no shrinkage, light pitting to steel mounts, regimentally marked with inspection marks.
A wonderful example from history of which more research could be done.
