A rare pre war W.W.Greener “The Greener Air Rifle” in .22 Calibre. Serial number 844.
This rifle was manufactured between 1933 and 1939 by the renowned Gun makers W.W. Greener of Birmingham and was the only Air Rifle they produced.
It is a heavy break barrel rifle which features a unique cam mechanism which pulls the barrel breach tight to the cylinder.
This rifle is in good original condition most of the blueing however has worn on the barrel and action to a mainly brown silver coloured patina. The stampings on top of the cylinder denoting “W.W. Greener. Maker. Birmingham” are visible.
To the side of the barrel pivot the word “OIL” is stamped to either side with the serial number “844” and “.22 BORE”
The stock is in good condition with no splits or cracks but it does have marks consistent with its age but nothing serious.
The rifle is fitted with its open sights the sight blade looks to be a replacement but it functions correctly.
The trigger adjusting screw is a replacement.
The rifle cocks and fires without issues and the cam mechanism works correctly.
A good example of this rare collectable Air Rifle
