A super rare (as it’s an all matching serial numbered) untouched WW2 Nazi German 1944 dated MP43 Sturmgewehr, with its matching numbered early deep style butt, with 17 notches to the rear and rarer MP43 marked magazine. Almost all MP43s have been replaced with the smaller narrow style butt of the MP44/StG44. Original MP43/1 or MP43 butts (if you can find one) sell for nearly £1,000 alone. This is the much rarer (than the MP44 and StG marked) Sturmgewehr. The MP43/1, MP43 and MP44 were later renamed by Hitler the StG44 (Storm Rifle). It was the world's first ever assault rifle and used the Kurz (short) 8mm Mauser round-7.92mm x 33mm. It was constructed from stamped metal parts making it quicker and cheaper to build, much like the MG42, but extremely reliable. Including the Mkb42(H)/(W), the MP43/1, MP43, MP44, StG44 and some named StG45 variants around 440,000 were ever made with the vast majority being destroyed during or after the war. This innovative weapon inspired today's assault rifles. For example the Kalashnikov AK47 and H & K G3 are both heavily based on this weapon. The AK47 was made as a direct result of what the Russians learnt from this design. All the variants, the Mkb42(H)/(W), MP43/1, MP43, MP44, StG44 and StG45 were mainly issued to Hitler's elite units such as the Waffen SS, Panzer Grenadiers and the like. Sympathetically deactivated to “Old Specifications” in 1992, it strips, cocks and dry fires.Excludes postage paid by the buyer at cost.
