ON HOLD FOR CUSTOMER ### NEW LISTING 23/3/15 ###

WW2 CLASSIC MK 3 BRITISH MILITARY GURKHA KUKRI A REAL "BEEN THERE" WAR VETERAN WITH 190(8?) DATED ISSUE BELT FROG AND SHEATH.

Overall reasonably good / good condition.

The British Issue Leather Heavy Duty Frog is a particularly interesting example stamped on the inside with the maker "CH (?) Broad Arrow and dated 190(8?) Date , Would say almost certainly that the kukri frog and sheath have been together throughout most of WW2 but as often happens the frog is possibly a contemporary replacement, perhaps from an older Kukri.

The kukri blade does not appear to have any markings which is not unusual but is a nice clean blade which is about a foot long or about 30cm blade measured in a straight line with an overall length of about 161/2 inches about 42 cm. and is quite sharp.
Hilt is the classic M3, with metal butt cap, raised central wood section, and twin rivets.

Will also include three pages which are copies of the original military specifications, details, and drawings for the Military Mk 3 Gurkha Kukri.

The sheath has has some real War Usage "marks of history" ; lost its metal chape at the tip , and with areas of light wear and marks to the leather, and some odd areas of wear to the top of the sheath due to the constant drawing and sheathing of the kukri.

From a private source and new to the collectors market.

The metal fittings on the hilt have some surface rust which could cleaned, and the frog has appeared to have lost one of its leather loops. Would say the leather lace is a later replacement.

Otherwise a real original "Been There" War Veteran Mk 3 British Issue Kukri, Sheath and Frog, with a nice clean Kukri blade, the leather work work is greased, a rare and original pre WW1 leather frog the set in overall reasonbly good / good condition.
