~ A Japanese 1750 Wakizashi Sword ~
The unsigned blade is quite likely to be 100 years older.
The sword comes with its Kasira (the pommel) and fuci (the ring between the grip and guard)k. The fuci has gilt brass floral decorations in high relief.
The steel tsuba (the guard) has traditional Japanese 'leaves' engravings.
The habaki (the rain guard) is from polished copper.
The saya (the scabbard) is made of black lacquered ribbed bamboo but the locket is missing.
The grip is of bound snakeskin.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade has a length of 19.2 inches (48.9 cm) from top to guard, with the sword measuring 27.5 inches (69.9 cm) overall, and 36.2 inches (92 cm) when sheathed. It weighs 822g in total.
~ Condition ~
There is wearing to the blade with several nicks. Generally the blade is still clean.
The tsuba has very minor surface rust but will clean up easily.
The scabbard has some wear to the lacquer and a few cracks at the top. Its locket is missing.
