19th Century Japanese Kaga Province Wakazashi Short Sword, Scabbard & Kozuka Short Knife. Sn 12415 - 12415
This is an excellent Wakazashi Short Sword made for fighting one handed. The clean, sharp blade was most likely made during the 19th century in the province of kaga renowned for quality sword making. The Wakazashi is 24” overall length and the blade with original polish and pronounced wave hamon is 17 ½” length. The tang is unsigned. Its fish skin wrapped handle has fresh binding with menuki. It has original copper and brass fittings including cast tsuba. The Wakazashi is accompanied by its original 7 ½” long Kozuka blade which sits perfectly in the scabbard. The kozuka has a copper handle with embossed decoration. The Scabbard with single cord mount has a black lacquered finish and is undamaged.
