    John Or Thomas Mace, Reading, Berkshire.1823- 1850 English .44" Bore Percussion Pocket Pistol With Screw Off Barrel. Sn 12538 - 12538

    John Mace is recorded as an English gunsmith with premises at Broad Street, Reading Berkshire between 1823 & 1843. Thomas Mace was an English gunsmith with premises at Oxford Street and 113 ½ Broad Street, Reading between 1843 & 1850. This is an excellent English Percussion Pistol By either John or Thomas Mace. It is 5 ¾” overall with a 1 ¾” screw off steel barrel which is .44" Bore. It has steel side plates with scroll foliate engraving & dolphin hammer. The underside of the barrel and frame have proof marks. The side plates have foliate decoration. On one side it is marked ‘Mace’ and the other side ‘Reading’. The trigger guard is also engraved with foliate decoration. It has an undamaged Walnut bag shaped grip. The pistol’s action works as it should. The price includes UK delivery. NB As an antique percussion pistol no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 12538
