MATCHING NUMBERS, OLD SPEC WW2 1945 Swedish Ljungman AG-42 6.5x55 mm Self-Loading Rifle With Brass Butt Disc 'Torped Overslag'. D 1275

The AG-42 rifle (official designation Halvautomatiskt Gevaer 42) was developed by Swedish engineer Erik Eklund while working at company C. J. Ljungman AB. It was officially adopted by Swedish army in 1942. These rifles served in Sweden until mid-1960s. The bolt group has no dedicated bolt handle instead, a sliding receiver cover is used to retract the bolt group manually. To cycle the bolt manually, one must grasp the receiver cover and push it all the way forward. The cover will engage the bolt carrier and when pulled back, will take the bolt group along. At the end of the rearward movement, the bolt carrier is automatically disengaged from receiver cover, and then it slams forward under the pressure of the return spring. It's safety lever is located at the rear of the receiver, and is switched to the left for “fire” and to the right for “safe”. When engaged, safety locks the trigger and sliding cover so the rifle cannot be cycled manually or fired. This is an excellent original Old Spec (1990) WW2 example of the AG-42. It has excellent metalwork and wood furniture. (The original deactivation certificate was lost at some point in it's life and a replacement certificate issued). It strips, cocks and dry fires perfectly. It is fitted with a brass 'Torped Overslag' butt disc (illustrated) & the breech is stamped with Swedish inspection marks, number '29849' & 1945 date (illustrated). It is complete with cleaning rod & has steel butt plate stamped with matching serial number, adjustable rear sight, shrouded foresight & vented muzzle. Price includes deactivation certificate & UK delivery. D 1275
