The grip is of hand carved wood covered in black leather. This grip is tightly wrapped with triple strands of fine brass wire.
The blade is plain, other than the makers stamp on the ricasso for “C. Gustav Spitzer, Solingen” and lion in the centre.
The scabbard shell is covered in the same leather. The silvered solid nickel scabbard mounts are retained by headless flush mounted screws. The solid silvered chain has seven upper and lower links and are connected to an snap clip marked “GES. GESGH OLC”.

The blade has a length of 12 inches (30.5 cm), the dagger measuring 18 inches (45.7 cm) overall, 19 inches (48.2 cm) when in scabbard. It weighs 580 g.

The leather on the scabbard has cracked and is worn on one side. The silvered mounts on the scabbard are tarnished with general age wear (including scratches etc.). Aside from general age wear the grip, pommel & crossguard are in good order. The blade has light scratching, but is generally clean and in good condition.
