~ M1863 Single Action Starr Arms Company 6 shot .44 Percussion Revolver And Holster ~
A 6 shot, single action, percussion revolver by Starr Arms.
The gun has a smooth brown butt and is marked to the frame "Starr Arms Co New York" on one side and "Starr's patent Jan 1856".
The serial number ‘35980’ is stamped on the cylinder and under the hammer’s frame.
This model of revolver was developed as a less costly improvement on the earlier double action revolvers and appears to be rarer than the doubles.
The revolver comes with a modern black leather holster.
The 1863 Starr was produced between 1863-1864 was in the same league as the Colt, Remington and Whitney of the day and was competitively priced against them at a cost of around $25 each. The 1863 Starr was a popular choice of weapon during the American Civil War.
~ Dimensions ~
The revolver measures 14 inches (36cm) in total with the barrel measuring 8 inches (20cm). This piece weighs 1.6 Kg.
~ Condition ~
There is some age pitting to the metal.
The wood grips have some minor chips and one side is cracked.
It cocks and releases fine but does not index correctly on one of the chambers.
