~ Mid-18th Century Twigg (London) Coachman's Travelling 20 Bore Flintlock Pistol ~
The brown steel barrel of the pistol is cylindrical. On the left side can be seen two London proof marks.
The rounded lock plate is named ‘Twigg’, the renowned gunsmith based in London.
The walnut grip is decorated with a blank brass escutcheon plate.
The trigger guard is brass, as is the spurred butt plate. To the opposite side is a flat brass scroll side plate.
It is fitted with a steel ramrod.
~ Dimensions ~
The barrel length is 8 inches (20.3 cm) and its overall length is 13 inches (33 cm).
It weighs 780 g.
~ Condition ~
The browning on the barrel is in good order.
The stock, other than minor age wear, is in excellent condition. There is a crack forward of the lock plate and one under the side plate.
The spring is damaged, so the pistol cannot be cocked nor fired.
