~ New Spec Deactivated c1963 American Mossberg Model 500k Shotgun ~
This shotgun was produced in the 1960's in New Haven, Connecticut, SUA by O.F.Mossberg & Sons Company. It is a 12 bore with a 2 3/4 chamber (as it is stamped on the top of the barrel and on the right side).
The pump action is moves and it dry fires.
The Mossberg company is one of the most popular shotguns manufacturers in the US, some of its models (like the modernized model 500) are still used in the field by the American army.
This shotgun was a private purchase probably for sheriff use or hunting. It came to the UK where it was reproofed, as we can see due to the British stamps applied both on the body and on the barrel.
The name of the maker is also engraved on the rubber end of the wooden stock.
The shotgun comes with its deactivation certificate dated 04/03/2010.
~ Dimensions ~
The barrel length is 26 inches (66 cm) and the overall length of the shotgun is 46 inches (117 cm).
~ Condition ~
Unfortunately some of the details stamped by the maker are not clearly visible any more but the shotgun remains in very good condition. Part of the chamber's finish has gone but only on the lower section. The pump is a bit loose. The wooden stock is chipped on the left hand side.
~ Postage ~
Postage costs £15 or the shotgun can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
