NORTH WEST FRONTIER / WW2 AWESOME BRITISH MK II MILITARY GURKHA KUKRI SUPERBLY MARKED AND A RARE UNUSUALLY LONG AND HEAVY MKII

    Overall nice condition.

In the many moons of dealing in Kukris this is not only the the longest and heaviest MKII, indeed would include any of the British Official Military Five Patterns of kukris, we have seen for sale on the collectors market its also best marked.!!! More the size of a ceremonial kukri which it is not!

Measured in a straight line not on the curve the blade measures about 34.8 cm long by about 5.8 cm at its widest and weighs in at about 720 gms...a real beast of a kukri.!!!!Would say the blade which is sharp has been resharpened at some period.

An interesting mark of history is the way the blade and metal fittings have had some form of protective parkerising giving it a dull gunmetal type of finish ... which probably means WW2 Burma Jungle Use.Due to the constant Jungle wetness and humidity the blades rusted very quickly which meant continuous cleaning...so parkerising was an answer. The WW2 British Para Machette and the post WW2 Wilkinson Sword "RZM Jungle Knife" ( Please refer our other listings) both have similar protective coatings on the blade.
Numerous original stamps on the kukri..."DHW I (Broad Arrow) G 1919 II 18" One of the clearest and best marked kukris.
The original sheath has been replaced with what is probably the more practical dated 1939 Leather Machette Sheath for the British WW2 Bolo Machette. The leather sheath is very heavily greased which means for example it would not rot as leather quickly did in jungle conditions.

Not suprisingly the handle is a really solid wood handle to match the weight of the blade The metal butt cap has twin tang rivets., metal bolster, and raised central wood section,

From a private source of WW2 military knives and new to the collectors market.

You must be at least 18 years of age to buy this item.
