~ Original Cased SS Hunting Trophy Cup Presented 1940-41 ~
An extremely interesting, unique & unusual piece of German WW2 SS memorabilia.
The cup is engraved with various decorations. The top edge is engraved “Herrn SS Oberfuhrer Erich Gutzbach lur Erinnern an die jagd in des Schorfheide OberJägerMeister, Peter Menthe”, which translates to be a gift from SS-Oberfuhrer Erich Gutzbach remembering the competition held against Peter Menthe in Upper Schorfheide. Next to this text is a feather with the Swastika at the centre.
The body depicts various runes and patterns, with a large crowned “SS” rune at the centre, and the scene of two birds flying above the grass on the reverse. The number “23” has been stamped onto the base.
The cup is housed within a wooden casket case. The lid of the case is decorated with an SS rune and the detailed depiction of a deer in a forest. Inside is a purple velvet interior.

The case has a width of 4 inches (10.2 cm), a standing height of 6 inches (15.2 cm) & a depth of 4 inches (10.2 cm).
The cup has a height of 5 inches (12.7 cm) & a diameter of 2.7 inches (6.8 cm).
The set weighs 635 g: The cup weighs 285 g, the case weighs 350 g.
~ Condition ~
The wooden box has the expected amount of wear, though aside to one small chip to the lid of the case the box appears to have no major cracks or chipping. The painting remains in good condition.
The cup remains in its original condition, with no sign of polish. Though it is tarnished and has blackened in areas no sign of damage, including dents or deep scratches, can be spotted.
